Old American Bar

Old American Bar

In the beginning it was the Tazza d’Oro bar, which opened its doors for the first time at the end of the 1960s, but the real turning point came in 1981 when one of Rimini’s most active entrepreneurs, Roberto Baldrati, together with a partner, entrusted the restyling to the well-known Rimini architect Simonetti and transformed it into one of Rimini’s best known pubs. After the first summer, another partner, Giulio Bernabei, joined the club and managed it together with Baldrati, making it one of the most popular pubs in Rimini.

There is no Rimini inhabitant who, in the eighties and nineties, did not go to have a beer at the Old American Bar in Viserba. It was a perfect British-style pub, like the ones in Rimini, but with an important novelty: for the first time a real pub was born in the northern area of Rimini. The Old American Bar was immediately a great success, becoming in a short time a meeting point for many young people, mostly from Rimini in winter and tourists from all over Europe in summer. Very special quality beers, excellent sandwiches bearing the names of the most famous American actors and good live music: this was the winning recipe for the Old American, which for twenty years cheered up the evenings and nights of generations of Rimini residents. People with a great desire to have fun, but also some VIPs: thanks to the organisation of the Summer Festival, singers of the calibre of Lucio Battisti, Claudio Baglioni, Edoardo Bennato, Nilla Pizzi and Heather Parisi have performed on the stage of the Old American.

In 2000 there was a turning point, when it was decided to transform the place into a restaurant and pizzeria, but always maintaining the style of the pub to recall the splendour of the early days and the fashions that made the Rimini Riviera a very trendy tourist destination. The bar counter still retains its historicity, as do some of the sofas on the mezzanine floor, the wall mirrors and the wood panelling. The sign has remained the same since 1981, as the English pub-style lamps that adorn the bar counter and seating area. Look up and admire the relief decoration on the ceilings.

Since June 2011, Old American 2011 has been managed by Marco and Davide, who together with their staff welcome their customers every night, offering a Romagna menu and a wide choice of pizzas cooked in the wood-fired oven with particular attention to the rising of the dough. The typical soul of the pub remains in the excellent hamburgers with homemade bread.

Bounty

Bounty

The “Bounty Rimini Adventure Club” was founded in Marina Centro in 1990 inspired by the homonymous ship which was the scene of the most famous mutiny in history. The club was built following its extraordinary structure, completely in naval style, becoming unique in its kind, so much so that it was included among the 50 best clubs in the world.

Entering Bounty gives guests the sensation of getting on board an ancient XVIII-century sailing ship, surrounded by masts, barrels, sails and creels, under a magnificent sky full of stars and served by a crew dressed up as a real ships’ crews: a fascinating scenario that gives visitors the possibility to enjoy an enchanting, almost magic atmosphere.

Smiling, some people have said that Bounty is more famous than Rimini’s historical monuments such as Ponte di Tiberio and Arco d’Augusto, because on TripAdvisor the restaurant has more than 8,000 reviews, more than the city’s historic landmarks.

Bounty is one of the most appreciated venues of the Riviera Romagnola, the ideal place to spend unforgettable evenings together with friends in a cheerful and funny atmosphere. Over the course of the years, this historic brewery has become one of the best night clubs in Rimini. Famous for its pizza and first courses, the “Ship of Fun” also inaugurated in 2019 the outdoor sea view space, also in style, which reproduces the bow of a ship.

Giuliano Lanzetti manages it in the name of a family tradition that has always been active in tourism: his grandfather built the hotel above the club, his father created the disco and now Giuliano and his family manage Bounty, always trying to add something more to the city’s entertainment offer.

SHOOTERS

Shooters

In 1985, when it opened its doors to Rimini’s inhabitants and tourists, it was called Big Ben: this was the origin of one of the most popular pubs in the seaside area of Rimini.

After 10 years, Big Ben becomes Shooters and the new name accompanies it until today. The new management, which has been operating since 2001, renovated the place, but kept intact the classic English pub style that has characterized the place since its beginning.

At Shooters you can immerse yourself in the English atmosphere thanks to the wooden furniture, the historical central bar and the ever-present billiard tables and darts game. The great influx of tourists from Northern Europe continues to characterize the customers of the Shooters: it will not be difficult to find English, Dutch, Germans and Swiss sitting at the tables and tasting beers and typical dishes. A few years ago the club was chosen by Dutch rock star Jan Smith as the location for one of his performances, which was broadcast on Dutch TV.

COPACABANA

After having hosted a famous pizzeria in the Sixties, at the end of the Eighties this place in Rivazzurra di Rimini became a pub at first frequented mainly by American soldiers from the NATO base. The entire structure of the bar, in English style, has remained the same as when it opened, with the unmistakable bar counter and the classic wooden furniture.

The Copacabana is synonymous with fun. Inside, during the evenings, you can play different games and take part in team and skills games. The Copacabana can boast a small record: in 1992 it was the first pub to bring karaoke to Rimini, a singing event imported from England a few years before it spread to Italy.

The Copacabana has recently been the setting for some scenes of the film “Riccione” by director Giorgio Romano broadcast on RaiWeb.
